About Dr. A.M. Gakwaya
Dr. Antony Gakwaya grew up in a religious family. His character was built on the discipline of religion and soccer. He had formal education at Kings College Budo, thereafter he moved on-to advanced studies where he graduated with MBCHB in 1975 then M.Med (Surgery) in 1981 at Makerere University in Uganda.
He practiced surgery in Mulago National Referral Hospital & Teaching Hospital for Makerere University for the last 40years. His favorite surgical procedures are: Modified radical mastectomy, total thyroidectomy with central lymph node excision, criles operation, Whiples operation and fore quarter amputation.
Dr. Gakwaya has published many academic papers. The most exciting of which are surgery of the spleen, symptomatic redundant sigmoid colon, soft tissue sarcoma and guidelines for the diagnoses and treatment of breast cancer, cervix & prostates in Uganda. He taught, examined & supervised learners for decades and he has appreciated what it takes to transform learners into doctors.
With that said, “Gakwaya Medical Notes” was created. The objectives of these medical notes are:
To produce a doctor who treats a client effectively & safely.
