- To describe the anterior compartment of the thigh.
- To recognize the 3 intermuscular septi
- To recognize the quadriceps and other muscles that form the group
- To recognize the quadriceps tendon and the patella ligament
- To recognize the tailor’s muscle
- To recognize that all the muscles in the compartment are supplied blood by the femoral artery (Except pectineus)
- To recognize that all muscles are innervated by the femoral nerve (sometimes pectineus is supplied by the obturator nerve)
- To appreciate the course, relationship and branches of the femoral artery
- To appreciate the adductor canal of Hunter and the arrangement of it’s contents.
- To appreciate the role of the anterior compartment on sports.
- To recognize a quadriceps tendon and patella ligament tear, femoral pulsation, use of femoral artery in venopucture, cardiac surgery, vascular surgery and imaging.
