  • The fetal period describes the events that occur from the embryo to term.
  • The membranes are the coverings that protect the fetus in utero.
  • The placenta is the organ which connects the fetus to the uterus of its mother. It is where oxygen, nutrition and other chemicals from the mother pass to reach the fetus and the bi-product from the fetus are excreted back to the mother. The connection of the fetus and mother is by the umbilical cord.

-To recognize oligo/poly hydro amnion and placenta previa.
