  • Therefore most muscles are inserted in the metarcapals and phalanges.
  • To recognize the common flexor and extensor origin.
  • The arm has two compartments, flexor and extensor.
  • The insertion of the digital flexors is presented in more details in the section of the hand.

  • To recognise the muscles of each compartment.
  • To identify the origin  insertion and action of each muscle.
  • To recognize the insertion of long flexors and extensors.
  • To identify the borders and clinical importance of the snuff box.
  • To recognize the synovial sheaths and the carpal tunnel.
  • To recognize the arrangement of structures in the carpal tunnel.
  • To recognize that most muscles in the same compartment with a few exceptions have the same blood and nerve supply.
  • To recognize the radial pulse and wrist drop.
