Gametogenesis

$20.00

  • The gametes develop from the primordial germ cells and migrate to the primordial gonads.
  • The primodial cells  increase in number through mitosis when they are diploid(46 chromosomes)
  • Later they differentiate to become haploid(23 chromosomes)
  • Normally a sperm ends up with X or Y chromosome and an ovum ends up with XX.
  • After fertilization there is either XX which makes a female zygote or XY which makes a male zygote.
