LEARNER OUTCOMES:
-To describe gametogenesis.
-To recognise the origin of germ cells.
-To appreciate that normally a gamete through the process of meiosis has a haploid number of chromosomes (23)
-Males:
- To appreciate the spermatogenic cycle.
- To appreciate that males continue producing sperms all their lifetime.
-Females:
- To appreciate that they produce a fixed number oocytes.
- To appreciate that some of the oocytes die as the fetus develops.
- To appreciate that only the 2ry oocyte becomes an ovum.
- To appreciate that meiosis II does not occur until 3 hours before ovulation.
-To recognize Trisomy 21 and 13.
