  • To differentiate the relations in the two sexes .
  • Rectum:

     – To identify the location, shape, measurements.

     – To identify the major flexures .

     – To identify the peritoneal reflections.

  • Anal canal:

     – To recognize the embryology of the different sections of the anal canal

     – To recognize the sphincters.

     – To recognize the anal ring and the pectinate line.

     – To identify the blood, nerve supply and lymphatic  drainage . 

     – To recognize the portal systemic circulation and 3-7-11 formation.

  • To recognise heamorrhoids, prolapsed rectum and cancer of the rectum.
